I have an interesting issue I've been traing to solve. I have windows clients copying files to a samba server, the issue its that I have a process running on the samba server that reads the shared directory for a new file, and when it finds a file, it copies that file to another directory.

The problem its that when the file is very big and when that process read the directory, it copies parts of the file that its been copied (that its not complete jet) to the other directory.

I need to lock that file in the samba share until the client finish copying it, but I dont know how to do it.

Any hint on this??

You could use NFS, or you could generate it with a different name and rename it when you're finished
