Hi,
Presently I am facing one problem earlier I configured dovecot as
my IMAP server but now I want to migrate it to courier-IMAP.(cause
I find maildir has some advantage over mbox format.)
I have a RHEL(AS)-4 system. I was trying to install courier-IMAP for
this.
So I downloaded the tarball courier-0.53.2.tar.bz2 and courier-
authlib-0.58.tar.bz2 from the website.
At first I tried to install the courier-authlib-0.58.tar.bz2 as a
normal user but it is not getting installed. When I run make install
it is generating some error.
Steps I have done,
#su alice
$bunzip2 courier-authlib-0.58.tar.bz2
$tar -xvf courier-authlib-0.58.tar
$cd courier-authlib-0.58
$./configure with redhat switch
$make
$make install-------error is coming right after this.
Plese help me out.
Regards,
Subo
PS. Is it possible to have maildir format with dovecot-IMAP. Why I am keen on
maildir format because I want to put my mails in shared storage. If I use mbox
it may give me some locking issue.
It looks like you have su'ed to the alice user before running make install. The alice user is probably nonpriveliged; you will need to be root for the make installstep.
BTW, dovecot (at least the 1.0 series) can handle maildir just fine (in fact AFAIK it is preferred to mbox). I wouldn't switch to courier solely to get maildir. I suggest you check out the wiki on www.dovecot.org for more infor.
i wouldn't say anything about switching to another server. only thing i can observe here is that some files which the authlib is trying to copy are already present. i have used cyrus (not courier). I used to get that error. the only solution i found was to remove the authlib files and put a fresh copy. also check the package u have downloaded.
let me know if this helped.
Hi,
First of all thanks to btmiller, su to
superuser has solved my authlib
installation problem.
But now I have a problem with courier-0.53.2 itsself.
Steps I have done,
#su alice
$bunsip courier-0.53.2.tar.bz2
$tar -xvf courier-0.53.2.tar
$cd courier-0.53.2
$./configure
Just after this I am getting this error.
Unable to locate Openssl's c-rehash
script. The c-rehash script is included
in the Openssl package but may not be
installed on your system.
Please install the c-rehash script from
openssl and return this configure
script.Openssl found but c-rehash was
not found.

Subho
