Angry ifconfig doesn't show virtual adapters

I installed vmware workstation 8.0 on windows 7, and I installed Ubuntu 10.04 in it. I can see the NIC adapters vmnet0 and vmnet8 on windows control panel. But they are not visible from ifconfig: only eth0 and lo are visible.
Is there a problem with vmware installation?

Try ifconfig -a. That will show all interfaces the OS knows about, even if they aren't running.

If that doesn't show it, then there's a configuration problem.

Ok, there is a configuration problem with vmware then.
So, is there a vmware command that I can run in Linux that shows the virtual network adapters?
