i can't use passphrase in sshd with redhat

i want to use passphrase instead password in sshd. i found this steps:

> ssh-keygen -t rsa

type passphrase

after that copy the id_rsa.pub to the remote server ( redhat 4 ) in user home (e.g root)

append the public key to .ssh/authorized_keys in remote server

then i type ssh root@192.168.1.1

but it's still want password, not passphrase

can you help me?

Make sure that you put the id_rsa private key in ~/.ssh on the client machine.

Also, if that doesn't work, try explicitly pointing ssh to it:
Code:
ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa root@192.168.1.1
Is root logins enabled on your server. This is not actually a particularly good idea.
