I've had it with russian spam

My message board (which has very little traffic) keeps getting hit by spammers with russian federation addresses.

So, I've decided to block the entire russian federation from my site. Who needs 'em?

Problem is, I haven't managed to find a source that will provide me with a complete (or nearly so) list of IP ranges associated with the russian federation.

Does anyone here have such a list or know where I can obtain one? I'd prefer to not have to do a DNS lookup on every site access; I want to just block all the IPs using .htaccess.

Two points:

1) Don't use .htaccess if it's not absolutely necessary. Same thins can be done in the main config file, and that is faster. Using .htaccess means the server looks trough every .htaccess file every time access permissions need to be checked.

2) Don't block the entire "russian federation". Why? Because 1* you can't be sure each one of them is a badass, and therefore you have no reason to block those good guys from accessing your place; after all, the idea of Internet is to allow people surf internationally; 2* have you ever thought the actual people interfering might hide behind IP addresses they don't actually use themselves (there are several ways of achieving this; I don't think many people are stupid enough to use their own IPs)

I don't host my own websites, I use a hosting service. Thus I don't have control of the main config file.

And, I really don't care if people in russia can't view my site; none of them have ever purchased my product anyway. All the traffic from there proves troublesome; easiest for me just to block it. Also, I couldn't care less if machines in russia are relays for spammers; those are the machines hitting my site, so blocking those machines will block the problem unless the spammers are so interested in my site particularly that they seek access from other locations (this seems unlikely).
