How to turn off all mobile b/band output on mint Vera.
Hi guys/gals, I'm not a newbie to linux, but computer talk is another language to me, so I'll explain my problem the best I can.
I've been using my pixel phone as a wireless hotspot for my Dell lappy for the last couple of years, and I kept getting an itchy ear (the right ear that is closest to the pixel phone, so after trying out all kinds of shielding (with the guidance of a microwave detector) I decided to try another way to connect to the net. (I don't have a landline)
I have now connected to the pixel phone via a long usb cable, and have shielded the phone by putting it in a steel toolbox with the opening facing the network tower (and away from me).
This works pretty good, but I'm still getting a microwave output from my laptop despite having all wireless connections turned off (even the physical button). There is a connection called "dummy" that must have been part of the proton vpn that I downloaded, and i can disable it for the session, but it comes back on when I reboot, is there a way to disable it permanently using a command in the terminal? I did find 2 commands that were supposed to work on another site, but a reboot brings this persistent dummy back.
When the dummy connection is turned off the system monitor doesn't show any wireless output, but my microwave meter shows that there is still a relatively strong signal being emitted from the front of the keyboard area. I took the back cover off the lappy and tried disconnecting the 2 wires that go the the lan module, but the signal persists. Is there something that I can physically unplug to stop all wireless transmissions? Thanks in advance for any ideas!
