How to stop Courierd from starting courieresmtp

Hello...how do I stop courieresmtp from functioning??? I have no idea how it gets started. My maillogs are showing 'courierd: Started ./courieresmpt, pid=xxxxx, maxdels=40, maxrcpt=100'

In both esmtpd and esmtpd-msa in /etc/coruier, i have ESMTPDSTART=NO. All I want are couriers imap and pop servers.

And courier is messing up my local mail delivery that I do with Postfix, please advise.

Please advise
Thank you

Normally it would be done with chkconfig.

try like this..

chkconfig esmtpd off

If the name is correct that should do it. If not look for the file in /etc/xinetd.d and use that name instead.

You can also try this ...

chkconfig --list

and find it in the list.

Thanks, but things were alot more complicated than that. I had installed courier instead of courier-imap, and someho courierd was starting up courieresmtp when mail was set from the machine. I had to rpm -e the courier install and reinstall postfix and then install courier-imap. All is well now.

Thank you.
