How to setup pppd for 3G USB modem Huawei

3G USB modem Huawei e3131 my intent is to use pppd alone, wvdial works but is too slow to connect- waiting for prompt for a minute or so.

Following https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...thout_a_dialer does turn on the modem and the ppp0 pops up in gkrellm but ping google.com does not work or any other website in a browser so no connection still. I read wikis left and right but to no avail. I really hope someone here is familiar with setting up pppd or can point to an up to date guide or how to.

journalctl http://pastebin.com/tty7smpc

/etc/ppp/chat
Code:
ABORT 'BUSY'
ABORT 'NO CARRIER'
ABORT 'ERROR'
'' AT
OK AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.vivacom.bg"
OK ATDT*99***1#
noauth
CONNECT
/etc/ppp/options
Code:
lock
modem
debug
/dev/ttyUSB0
9600
defaultroute
user VIVACOM
connect 'chat -t60 \"\" ATZ OK ATX3 OK ATDT*99# CONNECT'
/etc/ppp/peers/provider
Code:
/dev/ttyUSB2
9600
file /etc/ppp/options
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chat'
defaultroute
usepeerdns
user VIVACOM

First of all, turn on debug when pppd is started. And then reading logging to see what's wrong.

have you tried wvdial with "stupidmode=1" (actual syntax may vary)? should be quicker.

are you actually using archlinux?

i've been connecting my dongle with the same method and it worked.

how are you starting the connection?

wvdial connects immediately now, thx for the tip.
and this is how I used to connect

alias p='sudo /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyUSB0'
alias pp='sudo /usr/bin/killall pppd'
alias wd='sudo wvdial'

pppd also works now, it might have been missing usb_modeswitch
