How to open port in Fedora?

Hello,

I am using Fedora 19 with GNOME 3.8. My Firewall program is Firewall-config. I want to download a few files through Transmission (my default bittorrent client) but currently I can't do that because my ports are closed. My question is how do I open ports in Fedora?

Also I am using a wireless card if that matters at all.

first things first, have you set SELinux to permissive? do not disable SELinux just change it from enforcing to permissive.

also for editing ports you can use the GUI, sorry im no help there, or you can manually edit your IPTables rules.

Fedora 19 gui has a dropdown to edit firewall either permanent configuration or runtime configuration. Make sure you open your ports in both areas to preserve the settings between restarts.

Also F19 uses firewalld by default.
