Hello, I am learning socket programming and I was thinking of making a proxifier for linux.
Can someone please tell me how does it work and what exactly does it do and what do I need to do (I mean what unix specific things do I need to do) to make it.

Yeah I searched in google and found a lots of results but none(in the first 60) pointed me to an appropriate link.

My apologies for being so unclear and wasting everyone's time by making them read the question.
Let me ask the question again with being as clear as possible.
1.) I am behind a proxy firewall and the proxy is http and it does not support socks.
The proxy requires authentication.
2.) There are some applications like telnet and many others that do not support proxy.
3.) Now as far as MS Windows is concerned, there are many applications available to work around this. I will quote as an example "proxifier". What it does is that it takes the information about the proxy from the user and then redirects all the data there automatically. So that telnet and such other applications can work without difficulty.
4.) What I want is to make such an application for linux.
I hope that this time I have made myself clear.

You do not want to "make" a proxy product.
You want to study existing software like Dante, Zorp, Antinat and such.
