Question how to install fedora core 6 from shared networked dvd drive


Hi all,


Please let me know the procedure,that how to install fedora 6 from shared networked dvd drive.In my lab I do not have dvd drive on my computer so I will have to install fedora from shared dvd drive which other computer have.

please let me know the steps for that.

You can use one of the alternative installation methods documented in the Installation Guide.

The best way to share fedora installer is using an NFS share. This you will do:

1. Install Fedora core 6 in a workstation with NFS service. See the link below how to share files

2. Make folder for you to share and copy all files from the dvd installer. Create a startup disc (cdrom) for network booting.
3. Share the folder by going to system menu > server setting > NFS share.
4. From other workstation, insert the startup disc or startup floppy disk . Wait until you see boot prompt.
5. type askmethod then enter... select NFS share. Next screen, will be TCP/IP configurations. Better if you have DHCP server, if not you have to set unique IP addresses each workstations. Click OK to continue
6. Enter NFS Server name or NFS server IP address and the foler where you store Fedora Core 6 installation files.
7. Then.. you're good to go..
