I want a help from your side regarding Mail Server in Linux as I am new to Linux O/s.

Existing Set Up

We are having a Microsoft Exchange server installed in win 2003. We use this exchange server for Internal mail purpose for sending and receiving mail in Local area Network(LAN). Users are now very much accustomed with this set up and utilization is also at higher note.

Recently there was hardware crash of this exchange server which led to stoppage of communication for one day. As we are aware that windows crashes frequently and we want to shift to more reliable O/s that is LINUX.

We are already having Linux O/S (Fedora) which takes care of file management system.


What we require


We want to install Qmail or similar to Exchange server in our already running Linux O/s. Please help me by giving valuable advice for installing Mail sever (Qmail etc) for Local Area Network (LAN)


Will there be any problem for existing files while installing mail server ?
Can it be done similar to Exchange server in Windows
