How do i connect to my office using VPN?

Hi

I am using Mandrake 9.1, shorewall firewall, Alcatel ADSL modem (IP from ISP using DHCP) at home.

I want to connect to my office using VPN (my office are using windows).

The IT guys at my office told me that i have to use "Secure Client" (windows program) to connect. I dont belive them, i should be able to connect thrue VPN without that program shouldnt i?

Anybody got some hints were to start (wich programs i need etc) ?

Kind regards Klas

The term "Secure Client" is one that Cisco uses for their VPN client s/w and there is a Linux version. The IT guys will need to provide you with the profiles.

Thanks for your reply!

Actually i think we are using "Checkpoints" Secure Client at work
http://www.checkpoint.com/techsupport/downloads_sr.html
And they have a linux client but not for later kernels, mayby i could use ciscos client anyway? What do you think?

I have a "VPN account" IP address, passwords, names etc (if that is the profile you are talking about)

Regards

Yes. Profiles are just text files that contain access parameters like user name, group name, password, etc. The files have a .pcf suffix and a sample is included with the Cisco client.
