Angry How can I get my broadcast to run


I have run ifconfig and my network settings are displayed for eth0, however it shows that my BROADCAST is not running. I am unable to ping the other computers on the network although they are working fine but cannot see me either.....any suggestions??

Tried a new card and it works so may have a faulty board
