Hello,

What is the right way to specify hostname(in local linux box, not in DNS server):

myhost1
or
myhost1.mydomain1

Hi,

Hostname: myhost1
Domain: mydomain1 (most of the time it is something like: mydomain1.com)
FQDN (fully qualified domain name): myhost1.mydomain1 (most of the time it is something like: myhost1.mydomain1.com)

This is by convention.
