Help with Linksys PCM200

I have been searching for months, and have tried so much to get my Linksys PCM200 network card to work with linux. Currently i am using Mandrake 9.1 and i was able to get my wireless Linksys WPC11 working just fine, thanks to an awsome web page with good info, linux.old crank. co m/tips/wp c11/ .

However, I am having the hardest time getting the PCM200 working. I was hopeing someone had posted detailed info on how to get this card working but i cant find it anywhere. I have heard reports of the card working, but i cant get it to work. I know it uses the tulip_cb driver and i have added an entry for the card in my /etc/pcmcia/config file as follows

device "tulip_cb"
class "network" module "cb_enabler", "tulip_cb"
card "Linksys EtherFast 10/100 CardBus PC Card"
manfid 0x13d1, 0xab02
bind "tulip_cb"

i know i dont have the tulip_cb driver right now, and i have tried building it in the past with the instuctions at linksys. c om/sup port/supp ort.asp?spid=26 but have never had sucess. Is there a binary out there somewhere that installs easily.

I have read up on the source of the tulip driver at w ww.scyl d .c om/netw ork/updates.html and it apears that for cardbus applications the netdrivers rpm is not the way to go, and that i have to do something special for cardbus to work. it says to use the makefile (link is dead) to make the pci-scan.c and cb_shim.c files. And thats in addition to something else, i dont quite follow the logic of the instructions. Also it is mentioned that the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts file needs some additions for the PCM200 card, why does stuff go here, isnt the /etc/pcmcia/config file good enough, also why do they tell me to bind to tulip and not tulip_cb

I hope someone out there had done this before and can post some good easy to follow instructions on how to get this damn card working.

note: added random spaces in URL's becuase it wont let me post urls

i have tried the regular tulip drivers in the past, but no luck. what does the the entry in /etc/modules actually do? a probem that i am definatly having and shouldn't is having the computer recognize the card. sometimes is does and sometimes it doesnt.

i use /sbin/cardctl ident to verify if the card was regocnized
does that pick up card info even when there is no entry for the card in /etc/init.d/pcmcia/config ?
