Help me!!

I have an ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard with an integrated Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid" 64bit Kernel version 2.6.32.21

I have read that the driver isn't in the kernel, but there's a strange thing :

First if I try to run lspci from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Second If I try to run lshw -C network from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Third if I run ifconfig it only returns my loopback address.

Can I suppose that my Ethernet Intel Gigabit Controller is broken or that Atheros driver is missing?

Your subject is poor.

You tried to run lspci, but I guess it didn't work since you don't have any output.

No you can't. More likely it is disabled in the BIOS or not the same chip that you think it is. The lspci output would tell us.

Thanks for Answering

I have enabled Ethernet LAN Controller in my BIOS and I have same output when I run lspci but my problem is
that only my Ethernet Controllet not exist in the output of lspci.

The good thing about asus is you can easily get bios update. Or you can use the asus system disk to do it. Also if you have the asus driver disk you can get on line.

Also asus has a user profile in bios, check it.
