At work I have a linux server running squid.
This is used for giving internet access to users.
The problem is that I cannot connect to an ftp server using any ftp client software. ( I have tried cuteftp, flashfxp). Internet explorer works but squid format the ftp output as an html page.
(It obviously sends the request using the http proxy). And if I click a link squid connects to the ftp server, fetches the data and them disconnects. This really reduces the response time.
I have tried enabling and disabling pasv mode on the client but it still dosen't seem to work.
Is there some option in squid to enable ftp proxy access, or maintain an open connection to the ftp server ?
If this isn't possible then could someone please tell me which ftp proxy server to use (to coexist with squid) and more importantly how to set it up. (I would be happy to read a howto or something, just tell me which one.)
Thanks,
Blake.
