Question FTP install problem (redhat 7.3)

i have been trying to do a network install for Redhat Linux 7.3 onto a compaq proliant 4500 server, the NIC is a Compaq Netflex 3/E....

I set up an FTP server using Omni-NFS v4.2 (its quite simple to use) on a windows NT4 PC with the installation files in the directory c:\RHL

I am able to login to the FTP server on the PC using other Linux computers on the same network so i guess the FTP server is working fine.

BUT everytime i get the message "cannot connect to the FTP server" This is so frustrating!!! can anyone give me any information on what to consider? or sometihng i may have missed?

I am also Contemplating using a cross cable to connect the server to the PC directly and do an FTP install this way, is this possible? what do i have to set?

any comments or solutions appreciated.. thanks!
