Fowarding Ports

Hello People

I am running an ssh server on port 22, but my school blocks the port at the DET, so it is impossible to access my server from school, i was told by school that i could forward the port to 443 to bypass this. So i was just wondering how to forward these ports locally, is it the same and when i insert an ip i put 127.0.0.1?

Thanks
Alistair

What do you want to do?, you want ssh to listen on a different port? or you want, if you have a router, to listen on port 443?

You can tell ssh to listen on a different port to bypass the firewall block. edit the file /etc/ssh/sshd_config and uncomment the line that says "port 22" and change to whatever port you want to listen to. Then restart ssh, and you should be listening on the new port.
