filesharing between Linux and XP

hi,
I'm pretty much a newbie, but have managed to use Samba over a Network to se whats on my PC with XP. I have used an address like smb:/62.254.147.72/ezekiel/c/ to see whats on my C drive, but I can't actually open/use or view the files. I also haven't a clue how to get my XP machine seeing the linux one!

any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

you'll need to create users, on both the samba side and the windows side. have a read here.

Aha!

Sadly, as a beginner, I didn't have a clue how to do that stuff. Tried another couple of HOWTOs, but couldn't work them out either (

the links above are pretty straight forward, just follow the steps, you should have no major problems.
good luck.

I have given it a good go on two HOWTOs, but they assume you already have a good knowledge of networking and basic linux commands, which I don't yet. (
