I don't have so much help about it, but just some idea suguestions, as i have been trying to ultlize that idea somewhat.
I have a cable that goes from serial to parallel, but i've never seen a program that will accept the cable that does that.
They will acept form differnt ins and outs but i think something happens inbetween to the data and they don't understand eachother. Make sure you ports don't have to be identical. If you could rite that into the program it'd be usefull. Also. After you finish with that program, make sure it can go from linux to xp home. cause i'll need it in a short while =o).
serial ports are always listed but LTPx ports are never eh. they are harder to find. all the info i know about them is.
in windows they call teh LTP1 port 0378
and linux it's ttyP0 i'd suppose, P for parallel eh. heh instead of ttyS0
tty[ps][0-9a-f]
