I need to start file sharing among my Linux server and WinXP PCs in order to facilitate backups. I've been struggling to get Samba working* but it occurred to me there may be other technologies for this and I'm looking for recommendations. Here are some random thoughts:

• NFS
• SSH with secure copy

I think a mounted file system is the way to go (which eliminates SSH); and I want to mount file systems both ways (Linux read/writes to the XP box and the XP box read/writes to the Linux server).

Any recommendations?

*(OK it works but their are nbt name resolution issues which I'm still addressing)
