Question Failed LAN ethernet connection

Dear all,
for some reason my ethernet cable LAN connection failed but my WIFI USB connection works fine. I thought I had a bad ethernet port, until I tried to use USB-ethernet-LAN connection, it gave same error:

DHCP server not reachable, or it ignores this MAC address.

Since you didn't mention it, I must ask, did you test the cable and try a different port on the router/hub/switch?

Can you ping the router/hub/switch and ping another device on your LAN, if one is present?

The cable and ethernet port and its routers were working, I was able to connect it with other computer and its LAN.

yeah, I noticed that. How were it not reachable by this device but it was reachable by other? Could it be a hardware problem?

Set an IP address manually and check connectivity to the DHCP server.

If there is connectivity, check if the DHCP server is configured to serve this client.

it appears that the problem lies in the port or the router. Nothing to do with my Linux. Case closed.
