Hello
I've installed Debian on my old Sony Vaio (VPCCW2S1E/R), but I'm having a great deal of trouble regarding my Ethernet card. The WiFi is working fine.
I've run the lspci command, and have found nothing that could seem like an ethernet card.
(Result of lspci: http://pastebin.com/7JUJA3UF)
I've also run the dmesg command, and again, I can find nothing regarding ethernet.
(Result of dmesg: http://pastebin.com/FxZf4Bf4)
Anyone know what i can do to help me fix this issue?
I think nini09 is asking whether you are certain the ethernet card is functional.
I would suggest booting into a Live CD of something (Knoppix is designed for this sort of stuff) and seeing whether the Live CD sees the ethernet card. If it doesn't, you may be looking at a hardware problem with the card.
Knoppix is based on Debian. If you want to use something not based on Debian, there's Porteus, which is based on Slackware. There's also the System Rescue CD.
Im quite sure the ethernet card is workkng, cause according to sony support, and what i read the net card Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter) is responsibl for both wifi and ethernet
