Welcome to LQ. I fixed this problem by manually editing the network script.
Run slocate to find the network scripts
Probably it is at file:/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/
Open the corresponding script (ifcfg-eth0, for example)
The script contain the following lines:
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=no
MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes
NEEDHOSTNAME=yes
Change ONBOOT=yes
The next time you boot you should be connected automatically.
I tried to change this via GUI, but for some reason the no did not change to yes.
