Unhappy eth0/Internet Problem...

well i didnt know which forum to put this in, as im a newbie and this is a networking problem so....

heres the problem anyways.

i cant get the net to work on my RH9 , my cable modem has ethernet and USB connection, ive tried both in this case, but i dont know how to activate the device to use USB as the internet on RH9 so thats kinda messed up =/ ,

ok, so when i add eth0 to networking etc. and click activate i get :

SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy.

and in dmesg i see alot of PCI errors telling me to use PCI=BIOSIRQ or something, which i have tried adding to startup in the boot manager, no change.

ifup eth0 up gives the same SIOCSIFFLAGS error.

heeelp!

2 days ago this wasnt happening but it was still messing up and not getting ip information :/

the last time i installed RH9 , i got internet running straight off.. no such luck this time tho.

You say the CABLE modem has BOTH Ethernet & USB. Are you connecting to ONLY one --- Eth or USB not both? or do you mean that the MODEM has both available eth and USB inputs?

I guess a little clarification of the setup would be helpful for diagnostic

I'm not to good at the network setup area yet, but it sounds like the NIC card may need to me stopped in the SERVICES while you work with the USB connex. and vice versa.

Sorry I'm not more help...
