Hi all.
I set up a machine with Fedora core 7 x64. It works fine. What I'm trying to do is to join that pc to a Active Directory domain. I followed the instructions I found here but I get this error: kinit(v5): Improper format of Kerberos configuration file while initializing Kerberos 5 library
I can't find anything wrong in my krb5.conf file but something is not working right. Yes, I restarted samba and also tried rebooting but no luck.
Any ideas???
Ok.
There was something wrong with my krb5.conf file. Now that is fixed but then I get this error: kinit(v5): Cannot resolve network address for KDC in realm example.com while getting initial credentials. I took out the correct realm name for this post. I put the IP address and the name of the KDC in etc/hosts but still no luck.

It's a lot easier to install the NIS Service for Windows Server 2003 R2 and use a native Linux method. It fully integrates into Active Directory too.
Don't get me wrong, I like Samba and all that, it's just they had to reverse engineer everything while MS could look at actual code. It's not right or fair but that's the way it is.
BTW, Windows Server 2003 R2 also supports NFS, which eliminates another need for Samba.
Thank you for this comment.
Do you mean I have to install NIS on the Win2k3 server? If so, how do I do that? Is it in Add/remove Win component? I'm glad for every help I get, kind a new to Linux but know my way around in Windows (mostly).
