Dual LAN Configuration has same MAC Address

I have an embedded Linux system which has 2 lan ports. If I run IFCONFIG, they have different MAC addresses. If I read the transmitted MAC addresses through arp requests from a remote computer, only the MAC address for eth0 is given for both ports. Is this done by the kernel by design? I am on 6.0.7 kernel.
