Dsr-uu

halo...i had found a free routing protocol, DSR-uu as below:
http://core.it.uu.se/core/index.php/DSR-UU

But i'm not clear one thing from the last sentence of "Implementation" :
"Currently only minimal hop count is used"

Is that the above sentence mean only few hops will be work by using the protocol ??

Sorry...one more question, did anyone have use this in fedora core 4, 2.6.11 ??

Your advices and comments are much appreciated

i would guess that it means that the next hop is purely decided by the smallest hop count, just like RIP does.

there are many many ways to measure the suitability of a route, the size of it, the latency along it, it's usage, how many routers are involved in the chain etc... the last one is called a hop count, and is about as crude a metric as you can get. basically you'd prefer a route to a destination that only uses 4 routers to one that uses 10.
