DSL Modems

I have been using my windows computer as the router for my home network but i decided that since i havent had a crash on the linux box then i would put linux on my main computer and try to set IT up as the router...

I have a USB-DSL modem (alcatel speedtouch, i believe-the documentation doesnt give an actual model number or anything), I use bellsouth for isp...there was a separate entry for alcatel speedtoucm dsl modems during the install/setup, however, i have followed everything to the letter and still cant get it to work... anyone have an idea how to get it to work?
