DSL modem and router

hello,

I'm getting dsl installed tomorrow from sbc/snet. They gave me an Efficient speedstream 5100 modem and I bought a D-Link DI-604 router. D-Link says I have to set up the modem first then set up the router. The main question I have is that I have to uninstall or disable ppoe on the modem and set it up on the router. How is this done? Will issuing the command poff do it?

I have a D-Link DI-704P router, and an ADSL modem, and all I did was to give my username and password in the admin setup of the router. This is explained very well in the router's manual. Then the router negotiates the dialup of the ADSL modem. You will then need to run netconfig as root and restart X afterwards by Ctl + Alt + Backspace and then log back in with startx.
