Domain - DNS Pointing

Hi! I need help from you guys. I purchase a Domain name and I want to set it up the DNS to point to my server at home. I ask help from my registrar and told me that they dont suppost a custom dns. I just created a A Record like www then point it to my ip address.

Please visit this link http://www.i-bsc.com/wizzkid/mydns.png and you should be able to see the snapshot of my registrars control panel. Kindly please take a look and let me know if it should work or I did something wrong.

I am running Apache, Email and FTP server.

Also, how to create a DNS server, like if i have new domain i just change its name server to ns1.myprimarydomain.com and ns2.primarydomain.com.

Thanks.

to create the DNS server you guessed it correctly. But you will have to mention it in the NS section of your domain control panel.

It seems your domain registrar is hosting the NS for you. You can just add the A record from the panel to point to your server.

If you point it to your own Nameserver you will have to add all the records.

i recomend that you use your provider's NS as the primary and then your own server as the secondary.

How about the MX? did i do it right?

This is what is shown in my dig screen. It seems yo are hosting your NS under secureserver.com. You have not added any MX record. You have to add them.

As an aside, if you do the DNS correctly the bogus IP isn't necessary. If the DNS is right the name should resolve to the correct IP anyway.
