does this mean prism chipset??

i just bought a new wireless pcmcia card (senao NL-2511CD PLUS) and when i did
cardctl ident in shell i got the output

Socket 0:
product info: "INTERSIL" , "HFA384X/IEEE", "VERSION 01.02", ""
manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002

now im a newbie when it comes to wireless cards .. if i am not wrong ... intersill as the same as prism ... right ??

also im not sure where does this tell me what version of the prism chipset.... is it version 1.02.

any other way of confirming this ... as the ad said it should have the prism 2.5 chipset so i want to make sure

thanks for all your help

...and when I google your manfid, it looks like an orinoco v6.16. ..But don't take my word for it.
Actually I was under the foolish impression that the list I showed you had PCI id's. Not much use without them.

hey rhell,

thanks for the quick reply.

if i am not mistaken the output from the cardctl command gives "intersil" which was the earlier name for prism right ???

thanks

Damn, depending on where you look, that id shows up as either a prism-something or an orinoco. This is supposed to be simple, so I can maintain my thin veneer of superiority. I've not seen a conflict in id's.

See if you can make sense of these, but I believe you are correct.

Is there an FCC id on the little....darling?
http://lists.shmoo.com/pipermail/hos...ly/007197.html

I tried the senao site, but I'd have to read like a squirrel before it flashes into Mandarin.
