How do I configure my computer to use the naming servers in order to resolve the naming. I am using DSL and I am able to access the internet by typing the IP address but I can't reach any other computer by typing "www.yahoo.com". Any Ideas? I know the naming servers IP addresses I just don't know how to configure my computer to use them

Thank You

I know you've probably done this already, but sometimes we overlook the easy answer; so..
Have you looked in 'Linuxconf' under 'Client Tasks->Name Server Specification'?-It allows you to put the IP of your DNS in there...

You should have a file named /etc/resolv.conf. Put in a line like the following:

Code:
nameserver 192.168.1.1

I did that but it still does not resolve

I put the naming servers name in the resolv.conf but it still does not resolve the host name at startup. Any idea how to force the computer to use resolv.conf. I will appreciate your help.

Thank you.

You need to put the ip's in /etc/resolv.conf, not the host names.

I tried IP addresses

I am sorry for using wrong diction. I actually put IP addresses in the /etc/resolv.conf. The computer I am using is a Sun Blade workstation.
