Do I need to make entries the the .rev file

/var/named/chroot/var/named/masters/

This is the name of the file:

Example: 123.123.1.99.rev

I see entries in the file that looks like the following but don't know if I have to place new entries in there when I create a new web site with new IP addresses or does the system do it?

IN PTR xxx.com
157 IN PTR ns1.xxx.com
157 IN PTR mail.xxx.com
157 IN PTR ftp.xxx.com
157 IN PTR www.xxx.com

Centos 5.3

Thanks

Hi,

It's good practice to have PTR records for all your servers.
But this is necessary only for mail servers, so that their ip can be resolve to a hostname for spam reasons.
Of course you have to add the PTR records in the zone file and also increase the zone file serial number, so after reloading bind, it reads the new records.

Regards
