hi...i`m new here and I pretend to learn a loooooot of stuff with you guys....

well...first of all, I`m from Argentina, so...please forgive me if I write sth that does not make any sense...

so...here`s the question...

I was reading about Dns and Bind, and there is a part where it talks about transfering and updating zones....my question is...

Is this done automatically?? how does the DNS know that Workstation A changes its name, or ip???
Does the admin has to change this manually, or the dns detects this automatically????

DNS zone transfers occur between master and slave DNS servers. There is no way a DNS server knows when a workstation changes it's name. the admin has to change it explicitly on the master.
the slaves will be automatically updated at the next zone transfer.
