Quote:
check-names master warn; /* default. */

The ``check-names'' directive tells BIND to check names in master zone and give a warning in system's log files if there is any discrepancy. Names are considered good if they match RFC 952's expectations (if they are host names), or if they consist only of printable ASCII characters (if they are not host names).

Other options are fail and ignore in that case bind will follow these directives
Found via Google.

Hi deoren, and thx for u answer.
Google give me less than 10 answer with "check-names warning" (all between quotes) and no one is interesting.

I don't understand why I have these 3 lines. (I haven't check-names in named.conf, maybe it's the default).
[edit] thx to u link I saw that it's effectively the default[/edit]
Why do they appear in my log?
Has anyone on my site make a request on a inexisting web site, or received a bad email or whatever?

Good question. The first part of the question is likely as people often commit typos when trying to visit a website they go to often.

Again, using Google.

The second line says that the server should log any records that might be a problem, but still answer the query, for zones that it is the master for.
