What are my options for booting an old NEC Versa with a working floppy drive, PCMICA network card, and no hard drive? Most packages I've looked at for network booting seem to expect PCI NICs.

I wouldn't think PCMCIA devices would be capable of PXE. Your best solution would be to have a boot floppy.

Using a boot floppy's not a problem, but how do I make a boot image that will load the PCMCIA drivers before the network drivers? All the guides I've seen seem to assume that the NIC will be on a PCI or ISA bus.
