First I do dhclient eth1: The table is

x.x.x.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
x.x.x.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
0.0.0.0 x.x.x.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0

Then I do dhclient eth2: The table is:

x.x.x.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
x.x.x.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth2
x.x.x.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
0.0.0.0 x.x.x.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1

ifconfig at the end is :

eth0
inet addr:x.x.x.152 Bcast:x.x.x.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1


eth1
inet addr:x.x.x.149 Bcast:x.x.x.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

I mean all of them have different address. But as I have declared eth0 as static, I thought it wudnt be assigned address in the lease file. also in the routing table, if i remove the temporary connections, I am out of connectivity.

the problem is, eth1 and eth2 are temporary connections. When I remove them, the default route is also deleted.
I thought, the default route would be binded to eth0 which is the dhcpd server as it was before. So, I wanted to know is there a way so that the default route parameters r static too. I know its seems pretty simple but I am perplexed on why this happens. Is it I am doing sth wrong, or is it the way its supposed to work.
