DHCP not snagging an IP (SUSE 9.1)

I'm trying to get my SUSE box onto my MS network. I don't want it to actually join the domain, but I just want DHCP to give it an IP address... which it's not

I've been able to before with another workstation, but this one is not getting an IP address.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot DHCP on Linux?

(I have an Intel EtherExpress PRO/100+ which SUSE detected fine)

how are you getting the computer onto the domain? are you plugging a crozzover cable into a second ethernet card on your MS machine and using internet connection sharing or whatever they call it? or are you connecting to a router? explain the situation in more detail.
