Connection bases load sharing

so here is the question, hopefully there is a solution that I will understand.

I have two internet connections.

I would like to use both of those connections, at the same time, on my LAN.

I would like to balance the load between the two WAN connections, to increase performance. so that the network look something like this.
------------[Modem]---[DSL internet]
|
[LAN]--------[Linux box]
|
------------[Modem]---[Cable internet]

Now after doing a bit of research, basically my head exploded.

I think what I want is a connection based sharing, apparently so that I don't have to get co-operation from the ISP's.

I am a NEWBIE when it comes to linux, I setup SUSE 10 on my machine, but when it comes down to this project it looks like I may have to go with red hat.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an easy to follow solution?
