Connecting to a VLAN

My campus allows access to the Internet through a VLAN. How would I need to do to connect to it?

Im using a Redhat 8.0

Thanks

You'd need to get more information from the campus. But.. They may be running DHCP so setup your Redhat to use DHCP for it's IP setting.. That should get you the necessary info to make a network connection. But, really, you'll just need more info from the campus if DHCP isn't setup.

A VLAN is nothing more than a logical grouping of ports across one or more switches that allow the isolation of traffic between VLAN's (unless you route between them). This is to say that VLAN's are transparent to end users. You simply plug in to your data jack and as long as your IP configuration is correct, you will be humming right along. (as long as your end connection is a part of the access VLAN)
