Question connect: no buffer space available with azureus

I'm running ubuntu breezy badger on my t43 laptop and things have been going pretty well. I'm having some networking problems though. Sometimes when surfing and using the web, I can't connect to a server and on trying to ping it, I get the following

connect: no buffer space available

I've managed to isolate the problem occurence to instances when Azureus is running simultaneously. I thought it might be a problem of having too many open connections but restricting the maximum number of connections to 100-150 in azureus' settings doesn't help either. One possible reason could be that I'm using connecting from inside a vpn. I use the cisco vpn client.

Any suggestions to solve this problem would be great. I know that there have been some threads about this subject before, but I couldn't find any information about vpn clients or azureus.

Thanks
