Computer name (like Windows?)

hey, alright another awesome n3wb question here...

i ran a server here at work (win2k) and since we are DHCP, i did not want people to access by ip, so i just named the computer name Webserver, so people could just type http://webserver and it would resolve.

How can i do something like this in linux? I dont have access to DNS or anything like that. Am i looking for samba or something else?

thanks for your time and replies!

You can use samba to set a netbios name which will let you do that.
