computer disconnects from the internet after a while

I installed iptraf and monitored my wlan connection. After a while surfing it can't connect to the internet anymore. When I disconnect from my wlan network and reconnect it works again ...

This is a small example usually i get a lot of ARP requests (1 every second) and then ICMP dest unrch???
Code:
ICMP dest unrch (host) (68 bytes) from dot.local to dot.local on lo
ICMP dest unrch (host) (68 bytes) from dot.local to dot.local on lo
ICMP dest unrch (host) (68 bytes) from dot.local to dot.local on lo
ARP request for 192.168.1.1 (1113 bytes) from 00234a3d2131 to ffffffffffff on wlan0
anyone an idea what this is?

ARP is adress resolutionprotocol? coupling a mac adress to an ip?

and what is ICMP?

Oh yes I'm running ubuntu 9.04 on a packard bell dot

ICMP stands for Internet Control Message Protocol, a network protocol which is used in case of a network error, a message is generated in response to the error, informing the client with the error that occurred.

Back to you problem, are you by any chance sharing the wireless network with someone?
