changing the fixed channel in airodump wireless application

First off i just want to say that im doing this to my router for educational purposes and not someone else.

Code:
 CH 9 ][ Elapsed: 1 min ][ 2011-07-27 23:17 ][ fixed channel mon0: -1

BSSID PWR RXQ Beacons #Data, #/s CH MB ENC CIPHER AUTH ESSID

 00:23:69:F0:16:50 -58 100 1594 120 7 9 54e WEP WEP OPN Nexus

BSSID STATION PWR Rate Lost Packets Probes
i was just simply wondering how to change the fixed channel that is highlighted above. Im trying to learn how to crack my router just to see how its done.

also im using aircrack-ng if that is any help.
i tried using airodump-ng -c ch# but that just changed the channel in the top left-hand corner.

Hello,

What wireless drivers are you using? You may need a patch; For me, I use the compat-wireless package, and I manually patch my chan.c source file so this problem does not happen. Have a look at my blog about getting my Alfa AWUS036NH chipset working, as I included the reference for patching the file. Hope this helps man!

Cheers,

Josh
