case sensitive URLs with Apache

Hi there,
I have apache3.1 on a FC2 server and it considers the name of the programs available for download case sensitive:
e.g.: www.site.com/abc.zip is not the same with www.site.com/ABC.ZIP.
Why is that? What can I do to make everything case insensitive? Is there a directive or something?

Many Thanks

Hi,

Because abc.zip is not the same as ABC.ZIP

I don't think that is possible. Linux, and it's programs, are by nature case sensitive (unlike for example windows). Even if apache had such a switch, how would it choose between abc.zip and ABC.ZIP (and AbC.ZiP etc)? All are legal and can exist in the same directory on a linux box, which one is going to be served by apache?
