hi,
i am using redhat 8.0. i tried using an external modem to connect to the net via kppp(with the help of modem-dialup-nt-how-to docu). however after dialing, i was told that ppp daemon died. any1 has any idea wat's wrong? btw do i need to manually type in the dns n subnet mask of my isp?
nope. i was hoping any1 of u could provide me some simple ways to configure that. the problem is 'pppd daemon died'. so how do u configure to surf the net in red hat?
# Red Hat 7.3 down configuration commands setup leads to several configuration tools
# Red Hat 7.3 up configuration commands
Configure soundcard: redhat-config-soundcard
Configure X server: redhat-config-xfree86
Configure network: redhat-config-network
Manage software: redhat-config-packages Red Hat 9.0 Package Management Tool
Manage users redhat-config-users
I used rp3, the gnome applet you can put on the panel. After I placed it on the panel, I right clicked and chose to configure the network. That launched the tool redhat-config-network, I added the modem in the hardware tab, and added my phone no, username and password in the window brought up by adding the connection to the Devices tab.
