Cannot operate after vpn connect is successful

I am having issues with my vpn connection.

Setup:

Dell Latitude D810
BCM5751 GB Ethernet Express
Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG

SLED 10

modules:
tg3 and ipw2200

Cisco 4.6 vpn client

Problem:

I am having issues where I can connect ok, but the first command seems to lock up the connection.

I am only having this issue on my hardwire connection.

My trace indicates that there is a checksum error with all of my packets that contain SSHv2 information.

Can anyone help with this?

i get the impression you're not familiar with how tht cisco vpn client works. by default it will shut all otehr network interfaces, isolating your pc from the network it is sitting on, and all ip traffic must go via the tunnel. this is a setting sent down from on high by the PIX or whatever you're other end is connected to. you can disable this, but it's something they need to permit at the other end, and is generally a bad idea to do so for security reasons. that said, the GPL vpnc client doesn't enforce these commands so you can keep those connections open that way, if you wanted to try that client.
